Hyvä team defines their theme as “… the version of Luma we wished Magento had built. Or the front-end that Luma potentially could have become.”
Hyvä’s primary goal is to improve the PWA development experience by giving alternatives with decreased complexity. That means fewer development hours and, therefore, a lower development budget.
Let’s take a detailed look at it.
The Hyvä theme contains fewer JS files compared to other traditional Magento themes. How do they achieve it? By developing it from scratch from a blank theme with a UI library associated with Magento 2, it decreased dependencies on external libraries by using Alpine.js instead of multiple JS ones.
Since the Hyvä theme contains JS-based custom modules and reduces dependencies on third-party libraries by using the AlpineJS library, it does not support Magento Marketplace extensions out of the box. That adds challenges: to develop custom solutions from scratch or modify the existing ones accordingly. There is one more option, to wait. Hyvä team is currently working on their extensions (Hyvä Checkout is already available), and the release of more modules was already announced.
