Best Apps for the summer 2023

Share:

I’m embarking on a new series where I’ll be curating the top apps to explore every quarter.

1. Ascent-is a digital well-being application that introduces a barrier to your most distracting apps, offering you a moment to reconsider whether you truly need to use them. While the app’s basic features are free, it also offers a variety of customization options through its premium subscription. Additionally, it includes a feature to alert you when you’ve been using an app for an extended period and boasts a built-in focus mode.

2. Cartogram-this application enables you to effortlessly download and set digital wallpapers as backgrounds for your phone or tablet’s home and lock screens. With an abundance of styles at your disposal, these wallpapers offer complete customization options. You have the choice to select your current location as your wallpaper, which automatically updates as you travel, or explore any location around the world. Furthermore, the app intelligently adjusts the wallpaper’s appearance according to the time of day, seamlessly transitioning from light mode to dark mode. Its user-friendly and well-crafted design enhances the overall experience. You can even apply these wallpapers in landscape mode, catering to the needs of wide-screen devices such as tablets.

3. WebApp -This app is an invaluable tool for individuals who frequently visit specific websites throughout the day. For instance, if you rely on a website for daily news updates, and that website lacks its dedicated app, this application comes to the rescue. Simply input the website’s URL into the app, and it transforms it into a web app that can be added to your home screen. You have the flexibility to switch the website to a dark mode and eliminate bothersome ads. The app’s interface is so sleek and seamless that you’ll hardly notice you’re using a third-party solution.

5. Ivy wallet-is a free and open-source expense manager with a ton of features. Expanding on some of its features, this app lets you manage numerous expense categories and offers filtered report views. It even includes a feature for planned payments, which comes in handy for your fixed regular expenses. However, a notable limitation is the absence of SMS tracking, necessitating manual entry for each transaction.

6. To Do Mate-This is a note-taking and a basic collaboration app that is very aesthetically pleasing and interactive with various emojis and reactions. It also has an option to journal and the task list can be shared with friends to stay accountable or be competitive. The only issue is that after the recent update, several users have raised issues about the stability of the app and it’s ability to sync across the devices. It is an excellent user-friendly task management app for those looking to enter the digital note-taking space.
